Built by operators,
passionate to move the industry forward.
TechTape began as one operator’s fix for his own portfolio: too many tools, none of the numbers agreeing. It grew into a revenue management service and a data product, both tested on a live portfolio before they reach yours.
Turn complexity into profitability.
Every day, operators are expected to make hundreds of decisions using fragmented data, disconnected technology, and generic advice. We believe they deserve better.
So we help short-term rental operators turn complexity into profitability: make the tools work together, turn the data into insight you can trust, and run expert strategy on top of it.
Whether through Revenue Management or Tidewell, everything we build exists for one purpose: helping operators run more profitable, resilient businesses.

From helping fellow operators to building a company around them.
John An did not start TechTape to launch another software company. He started it because operators kept asking for help. Nearly two decades in architecture and building performance, with teaching stops at Cornell, Columbia, and Harvard, then his own short-term rentals in Hawaii. The tools he built to run them became TechTape.
He is as approachable as he is analytical. If you have been to a conference or tuned in to a short-term rental podcast, you have probably seen him. Being on the ground, listening to operators, is where his read on what actually works comes from.

A homecoming, not a pivot.
The data product we are launching in 2026 is the same foundation that has run our revenue management service for years. Here is how that happened.
John An starts running short-term rentals in Hawaii and hits the wall every operator hits: a PMS, a pricing tool, and an accountant that never agree. He builds a data foundation and a human-led pricing method to run his own properties.
Other operators ask for help with pricing and their tech stacks, at first as a favor. The favors become a company. TechTape is founded with two services: TechTape RM for revenue management, and a streamlined tech stack.
Deep integrations across the PMS, pricing, and accounting tools partners already run, so every recommendation and forecast sits on one clean set of numbers.
Fragmentation is now something operators feel every day, and AI has made it worse. The foundation that quietly ran the service becomes a product: Tidewell by TechTape.
What we do not budge on.
Data is the foundation.
Without one clean set of numbers, nothing downstream works, including AI. Reports, forecasts, owner statements, all of it sits on the data.
A person makes every call.
A dynamic pricing tool is an extraordinary machine. It is not a revenue strategy. Tech and AI are in the kit. Human judgment sets the strategy and owns the result.
Keep your tools.
You do not fix a traffic problem by banning cars. You build better roads. Tidewell reads from the tools you already run and never writes back. Revenue Management runs on the pricing tool you already pay for.
And one rule for everything we write: if an operator can’t say it over dinner, we don’t say it.
Local strategies. Global experience.
Mountain towns, beach towns, big cities. Our approach to revenue strategy and tech stacks has worked in every one of them. The dots mark the markets where TechTape partners run their properties.
